2024 PAFF Glow & Know Campouts

PENNSYLVANIA FIREFLY FESTIVAL (PAFF) PRESENTS: GLOW & KNOW FIREFLY CAMPOUT
You must apply for the PAFF registration lottery by March 31 and be selected in order to register for the Glow & Know Campout. The lottery application will be available starting January 1. This year's G&K campout offers a unique Nature Immersion experience for 16 novice to expert campers.

The 2024 Glow & Know Campouts are a unique nature experience scheduled for Saturday, June 22, and Tuesday, June 25 at the Kellettville Firefly Farm. This is for tent campers only. Campers must provide their own tent and camping gear.* Each G&K Campout begins at 1 pm and concludes the following morning. This is intended for couples and families with school-age children. Children under 10 years of age are FREE. DO not register/pay for children. This event is not intended for children younger than 6 years old.

The G&K Campout is held on the grounds of the Kellettville Firefly Farm which is a 15-acre private property dedicated to the preservation of the firefly habitat and surrounded by private and public forest. Firewood, water, and port-a-johns will be provided. The campout includes a campfire supper, non-alcoholic beverages, snacks and continental breakfast including coffee or tea. Vegetarian options will be offered. During the day, campers can choose from various nature activities including guided walks about the Tionesta Creek areas, nature arts & crafts, and/or children's activities. Campers are encouraged to bring personal fishing gear, kayaks, canoes or tubes for a creek float during the afternoon. That evening, a campfire for hot dogs & s'mores, with music followed by the late evening program and viewing of fireflies including the Synchronous firefly (Photinus Carolinus). Stargazing and Long-exposure photography are also being encouraged to those with telescopes or digital cameras. In addition, attendees can volunteer to observe and collect data as community scientists and assist PAFF with their firefly research programs.

*A New Safari Tent Option for 2024: The Safari Tent rental is intended to provide those without camping experience and/or equipment an opportunity to attend one of the two Glow & Know overnight Campouts. The name selected for the Safari Tent rental for each date will also follow the same procedures outlined above. The selected person may bring up to 3 other adults/teens. Your pre-assembled tent, cots and camp chairs will be set up for you. You only need to provide your own bedding (i.e. sleeping bag and pillows) and bring your personal items. You and your party will be included in the Glow & Know Campout Programs from 1 pm to the following morning at 10 am. ​
