The PA Firefly Festival Inc. is a non-profit and as such, we rely on a dedicated team of people to make everything happen.   We have met our quota for volunteers for the 2024 PAFF and closed the  applications .     We look forward to meeting the festival volunteers and guides at an upcoming training.  2024 Volunteers will be contacted regarding the training schedule in the coming weeks.  Continue to read below on other ways you can become involved.

We welcome educators, students, scientists, or forest-related agencies and organizations to participate in our  Nature Center exhibition.  If you have information to share about fireflies, insects, forest habitats and/or environmental concerns.   We offer a limited number of travel stipends to educators/researchers presenting at the festival.  We accept Exhibitor applications through June 1 for each festival.

PAFF is pleased to welcome visual artists to participate in "Art After Dark" on the festival nights.  Artists can display their firefly themed or inspired paintings, sculptures, mixed media, or photos, etc.  We encourage art displays that are fluorescent or lighted.  The art will be installed in the pavilion and displayed both festival nights.  The artist is welcome to attend the exhibition, sell his or her art, or  just provide interpretation to the festival patrons.  Interested artists are asked to submit an application before June 1 at this link.

Become a  Private Firefly Tour Provider:  The public demand and interest in fireflies is a growing tourism opportunity in Pennsylvania.  Professional Guides or Outfitters who may be interested in learning more about how to incorporate private firefly tours into their business can join us for an annual training course. On Saturday, May 18, 2024 from 1-3 pm PA Firefly Festival, Inc. will host a training and provide materials for 10 prospective firefly guides on how to guide tourists safely and responsibly to known firefly habitat sites in western Pennsylvania.  You will learn how to identify and protect the fireflies and their habitats for future tourists.    The registration fee - $25 by check payable to PAFF or Paypal.me/pafireflyfestival  is due by May 4.   Trained Guides will be endorsed by PAFF and listed on our website to refer firefly tourists for direct booking with the trained guide.

 

Registration is open until April 15, 2024.  Registration fee is non-refundable
